Stick it to the Man: Self Employed Poker Players

It is generally accepted that you are under no obligation to like your boss. It has actually become socially accepted to publically admit that you do not respect or think well of your employer. It has become acceptable to whine. More than that, it has become the social norm to stay in dead end jobs simply for the paycheck. While complaining about your boss may be acceptable to society at large, it is not acceptable to me. I do not understand why you would put up with a boss you do not respect when there is an easy way out of the situation. I assume if you are reading this, that you have an active interest in the poker online world. You are probably a decent player who reads articles like this on your constant search to better your online poker game. You want to be better, but most of all you want to go pro. Why not go now? Going pro now would allow to ditch the job you loathe in favor of a full time hobby that you love. You would be your own boss, answerable to no one but yourself. If you want, you can stop working for the man and take control of your life. You can make a future being your own boss playing professional online poker .

Bingo Workers Are People Too (Part Two)

5. Remember your bingo is for a charity. Explain your charity to all of your workers so they know the wonderful cause they’re working for.

6. Thank your workers! A smile and a thank you will go miles with your workers, and regular recognition of a job well done will really show them how much you appreciate their efforts!

7. Communication goes both ways. You can give your workers guidance, but be open to comments and suggestions. Chances are they will often have good ideas that could really help the bingo’s profit.

8. You can’t work on an empty stomach, and neither can your workers. Bingo rules allow for up to $10 in food and drinks for your workers, so make sure you feed them!

9. Some of your workers may need transportation to and from your bingo. Offering a ride may keep a worker around longer.

10. Finally, the best way to recognize a great team is to show them to your customers. Take pictures of everyone and turn them into a collage. Post it in front of your hall with a big “Thank You” heading.

Wedding Musicians Make Your Big Day Memorable

Weddings are a time for festivity and nothing sets the mood better than the right music. Although the ceremony itself often reflects the romance of the classical era, when it comes to the reception your guests want to rock it out, making it a memorable event that brings out the laughter, love, and joyfulness everyone is feeling. Therefore, the selection of wedding music or, better yet, wedding musicians can become an important choice.

There is now stereo equipment with speakers that can sound almost real, but by the time you can find someone to run it and the music is collected the result is less than desirable. DJs are more popular and they provide the equipment and music selection preferred, but can be costly with less than choice results in some cases. For brides who really want something wonderful, nothing beats the sound of a live band that can react and respond right away to the demands of party-goers and cost is often equivalent to that of a good DJ. The question then becomes what kind of band or instrumentalists to hire that will leave guests in awe and remembering the event for some time to come.

Many wedding musicians, like Reel Ting, are not limited to style when it comes to music. Classic music played on steel drums provides a twist on the original composition that is not only unusual, but produces beautiful, lyrical music that is particularly unique. When the party kicks into high gear, however, they are more than ready to liven up the party with a beat that will ensure party-goers never want to finish. With the picks provided by steel drum bands, feeling like one is on a tropical isle can be experienced regardless of where the event is held.

When leasing any dance band it’s important that sufficient experience and references are provided and that they are checked thoroughly. After all, a bridal couple has only one opportunity in their life to do it properly so guaranteeing that the greatest band is working for the event will save much headaches. For instance, a steel drum band like Real Ting with ten years of experience and many letters of testimonial can reassure engaged couples that their event will be a unforgettable experience.

The right wedding musicians should bring flair, flamboyance, talent, and professionalism to any event. Florida is fortunate in that it has many options for live music, but maybe it is luckiest for the gifted steel drum bands, like Reel Ting, that are based there. For any couple planning to get married, whether residents Florida or those flying in for a destination wedding, it should be a first choice to make the affair memorable and matchless.

Reel Ting is South Florida’s favorite steel drum wedding band. Call today to book your date, and get ready for your guests to have the time of their lives at your wedding.

Multi Table Tournaments: How Many Is Too Many Participants?

This is a tough question to answer on its own without context, but let’s take a look at one of the most popular online poker sites online and one of their 500 dollar tournaments. There is a maximum casino player cap of 13500 players for a tournament like this, and the payout structure is inane. First place takes in about 85 dollars, and the list goes down respectively to about 400 places getting paid, with the bottom tier making less than one dollar. This is what I’m talking about when I ask how many is too many? Ask yourself, next time you decide to enter a tournament with such a weak prize pool and so many allowed participants if it’s worth it to weed through 13,499 players over the course of probably about 4 hours or more to win 80 dollars. I personally don’t think it is, and it’s one of the complaints I have with some of the sites out there. Mainly, their tournament structure is a bit flawed. Surely, the World Series, where the prize pool can total in the hundreds of millions, such a vast field of online poker players is permissible, but mimicking the WSOP for a 500 dollar prize pool just seems, well, ridiculous to me. Just my 10 cents on the subject, since 2 cents would have too many players responding.

Developing Scratch Bowler’s Trusted Resource, the Local Bowling Alley

Maybe you are a Nintendo Wii bowler hoping to approach this intricate sport more seriously. When bowling is your calling, you’re approaching a critical cross-roads in building fundamental skills as a dedicated bowler. Our “Next Steps” handbook to the Top 5 Bowling Tips shouldn’t be ignored. Professionals in a nearby bowling pro shop are there to assist their customers harness bowling potential. It’s no surprise, the bowling balls do all the work (after you roll them). I kid. I admit, bowling is a simple game with not-so simple details. No worry, we’ll make sure you’re bowling your way.

First, get a knowledgeable friend to help you purchase the specialized equipment at your bowling pro shop! It’s not a sales pitch, it actually matters. There’s a reason its our number 1 recommendation, get your own ball fitted, and you’ll bowl more consistently. A correctly weighted bowling ball can make a substantial improvement in your game. Of course another critical matter is enjoying well-made bowling shoes that are in good condition.

Since you may have previous purchased the right bowling equipment, now it’s time for the number two bowling tip: aiming the ball. As you wait to roll, don’t necessarily roll the ball at the back of the lane. Aim for the the arrows like a sight on a firearm. Some greenhorn bowlers don’t even know they’re there. It’s less difficult to roll through a target which sits closer. To take full advantage, double check to see aim from the exact spot on the wood each time. With that consistency you can fine-tune your accuracy and angle.

What about spin, to get ball handling and velocity? That’s our next best piece of bowling advice. They get traction with the pricy reactive ball. Most even semi-pro bowlers pack at least two bowling balls to get aggressive hooks, according to the type of game and lane. Just a bit of caution: begginers might want to keep it simple, and avoid a ball that is too heavy for you. Many pro bowlers opt for bowling balls made for extra expert grip. But these pro bowling balls regularly make even moderately good bowlers look a fool. And that does it for our first three bowling tips. I’ll be back with another 3 soon.

~Michael Rogers

My family and I roll strikes for our team (the “Strykers”) made up of the guys and gals at a bowling shoes manufacturer down in Las Vegas. I offer tips to all bowlers online and in my local newsletter. Lastly, I must wave hello at all my heavy rollers at the center. Knock ‘em dead.

Bypass the Bluff

In online poker, bluffing about your hand at the casino is one way to win without actually having good cards. It takes a bit a skill and lots of nerve to pull off a bluff, and is best left to those with some experience in the game.

Savvy players can usually spot a good opportunity to bluff, like when a scare card comes out and everyone else checks. It is fun to win with a bluff, but one must practice strict discipline about attempting to steal the pot from other players. There are times when you should never initiate a bluff because most likely you’ll get called and be beaten.

The first secret to successful bluffing is to be sure you have an image as a player who is a tight rock who only plays good cards. Once you have gone to showdown with winning hands, you have set the stage. However, beware making a bluff under the following situations.

Don’t try to bluff after losing one or more hands. You must tighten up your game when this happens. If you do bluff and reach a showdown to lose, then avoid bluffing again for some time. Focus on rebuilding a tight image at the online poker table. It is also risky to bluff if you have raised pots, then folded without a showdown. Your opponents will see this as weak play and are more likely to call or bluff a raise back at you. When it comes to bluffing, your last few hands will act as a reference for your opponents. Keep these in mind before launching a bluff.

Multitasking with Online Poker

There is a great temptation with online poker to play multiple hands at once. Because it is so easy to join games, many players have to fight the urge to play multiple tables at once. Many players think that playing multiple games at once will make their winnings grow exponentially based on the number of hands they play at once. So in this thought process, instead of making $10 an hour, a player could make $20, $30, or even $40 an hour.

The problem with playing multiple hands at once, or multitasking in any way while playing online poker, is that players can easily get distracted from a game. Because they are focusing on so many hands at once, it is very easy for a player to miss a small play or a less obvious combination. Multitasking players tend to only play obvious, solid hands. Of course this playing strategy can be easily spotted by the other players at the table.

Multitasking at online poker is a skill in itself distinct from your actual ability to play poker well. You may be a phenomenal poker player, but it is a whole different scenario if you decide that you want to try playing multiple hands at once. In order to succeed you need to be an exceptionally focused player who can tune out all distractions at focus on the cards. As always, you should try to practice for free before you try multitasking with real money.

Book Review: Hansen’s Every Hand Revealed

There are literally hundreds of poker books out there these days, offering instruction on almost every form of poker gambling you could want: books like Doyle Brunson’s Super System that breaks down hold em and all its brethren from stud to Omaha, books focused on tournament poker like Dan Harrington’s series, and on and on. So by now, with just about every pro and his brother having released their take on poker advice, it takes something really special to get your attention. Gus Hansen’s ‘Every Hand Revealed’ happens to be one of those new school, special books.

Unlike most poker books, which break down the game into classified sets of info, that you kind of need to parse into your own experiential situations to manage the application of, Gus Hansen’s book, true to its name, contains descriptions of most every hand he played to win a recent Aussie Millions poker tournament over a field of hundreds. Instead of creating archetypal info to be memorized and retained, Hansen focuses on the specific logic behind every single hand he plays, with some of his nearly patented unorthodox methods to stealing chips and putting pressure on his opponent.

Gus’s book is just as refreshing as it is instructional, in that it offers real, hand by hand analysis of the game of hold em, so that you can see the method behind the madness, teaching whole ideologies and down to earth logistics behind play as it actually happens, which is definitely innovative for a poker text.

Besides being a great tool, it’s also a fun read, as Hansen makes the writing less of a textbook feel and more just a guy, albeit an extremely accomplished and revered poker player, giving you the inside track on yet another way to play the game.
